"Delivery failed" is a status, not the whole story. A customer might have missed a call, been away, entered the wrong landmark, or seen no delivery attempt at all. Sending the same generic reattempt request to everyone can make an already frustrating situation worse.
A calmer workflow starts by checking the courier event and the current order. Then ask the customer one narrow question through a permitted channel: did someone contact you or try to deliver, and is the address still right? Offer a clear handoff when they say the address is wrong or the delivery was never attempted. Keep their answer and its time alongside the order; let a person decide whether to request a reattempt, correct an address or escalate with the courier.
Set a stop rule too. Once a person takes the case, automatic follow-ups should not keep talking over them. A parcel should not be marked solved just because a message was delivered. The useful measure is whether the team has the information to take the next correct step.
Hextor Labs builds Shopify and WhatsApp workflows for COD confirmation, failed-delivery follow-up and cart recovery. See https://hextorlabs.com for the service scope. Check consent and the current WhatsApp messaging requirements before using this pattern with customers.
