A COD parcel misses its delivery and the follow-up becomes whatever the support team remembers that day. One message goes out, then silence, then another attempt with no new information. An NDR follow-up works better as a short rhythm with a clear purpose at each stage: same day, next day, final day.
One message per stage, each with its own job
The customer should never get the same question twice; each follow-up should move the order closer to a decision. A failed delivery is a question first, as the note on the first hour explains. The later messages build on that answer instead of repeating it.

Same day, next day, final day
Take Saanvi Studio’s illustrative customer Arjun, whose COD parcel was not delivered. Same day: ask what happened and when he could receive it. Next day: if he answered, confirm the address and a delivery window; if he did not, ask once more in simpler words. Final day: tell him this is the last attempt before the order goes back, and offer a clear way to keep it. The address-check message fits the second stage well.

The store sets the timing, not the template
How many days the rhythm covers depends on the store’s courier terms, product value and customers. A fixed template cannot know that. Write the stages down so the team is not improvising, and decide in advance how many attempts are worth paying for. The post on re-attempts looks at that cost.
What Hextor builds behind the rhythm
Hextor Labs builds failed-delivery follow-up flows on WhatsApp for Shopify stores. When a COD order is marked undelivered, the customer gets a message asking what happened, and the answer decides the next step: re-attempt, a changed address, or a return. The follow-ups run on the store’s own timing, replies that need a person go to one, and the flow runs in the store’s own accounts.
To see how this could fit your store, tap the “Ask anything” WhatsApp button and describe how your team follows up on failed deliveries today. You can also book the free 30-minute audit.
