The tracking page has not moved for days. The customer has noticed, and your support inbox is about to fill with the same question. Silence feels safer than saying something wrong. It usually produces more messages, not fewer. A short, honest status message does more good.
Say only what the courier has confirmed
Check the current status before writing. If the courier says the parcel is at a hub, say that. Do not invent a new delivery date. If the date is unknown, say so and say when you will check again. The follow-up rhythm article describes how messages fit into a sequence, and the same restraint applies here.

Tell the customer what happens next
Explain what the store is doing, such as checking with the courier, and what the customer can do, such as keep their phone available. For a COD parcel, remind them only if the store knows delivery is close. Avoid promises about compensation or a date that nobody has confirmed. If the delay ends in a missed attempt, the reattempt article picks up from there.
Offer a person for the frustrated reply
A customer who has waited may reply with anger or a request to cancel. Those replies need a team member who can read the order and the courier record. The customer-not-available article shows why a status alone rarely tells the full story. Keep the conversation attached to the order so the customer does not repeat themselves.

Saanvi Studio: one honest update
In this fictional example, Priya's parcel sits at a hub for several days. Saanvi Studio sends one message saying the courier shows it at the hub, no new date is confirmed and the team will check again. When Priya asks whether she should cancel, a team member answers using the order and courier record rather than a template.
What Hextor builds around status messages
Hextor's failed-delivery flow asks the customer what happened and ties the answer to the order. For delay messages, the audit can map which courier statuses trigger an update and which go to a person. We do not control couriers and promise no delivery dates.
Tap the "Ask anything" WhatsApp button and tell us where your team gets stuck. Start with a free 30-minute audit to discuss what the flow would need to handle in your Shopify store.
