What support should check before approving another delivery attempt

By Anuj Chauhan · · 2 min read

A parcel has failed delivery and a support agent is asked to approve another attempt. If the approval is automatic, the same problem may repeat. If it is slow, the customer waits. A short, shared check helps the agent decide quickly and for the same reasons every time.

What did the customer actually say?

Start with the customer's own answer, not the courier's code. Did they reply, and did they give a time, a landmark or a reason? The customer-not-available article shows why the status alone does not tell the story. If the customer has not answered, the next step may be a message, not another attempt.

Is the address now good enough for the courier?

Check whether anything about the address changed since the last attempt. The address-check article covers one way to get a missing detail. If nothing has changed, a repeat attempt has little reason to go differently.

What does the courier say will happen?

Confirm the current status and what the courier allows next. Do not promise the customer a date or a free reattempt until the courier or the store has confirmed it. If the case is a dispute, take it to a person, as in the refusal-dispute article.

Saanvi Studio: three questions, one decision

In this fictional example, Priya's parcel at Saanvi Studio has missed delivery. The agent reads her reply, sees she added a landmark and sees the courier will allow another attempt. All three line up, so the attempt is approved and the note records why. If one did not line up, the order would be held for review instead. This sits alongside the article on how many attempts are worth it.

What Hextor builds behind the check

Hextor's failed-delivery flow asks the customer what happened and ties the answer to the order, so the agent has it in front of them. During the audit, we can map the checks your team uses, which ones can be shown automatically and which need a person. It does not control the courier and promises no delivery results.

Tap the "Ask anything" WhatsApp button and tell us where your team gets stuck. Start with a free 30-minute audit to discuss what the flow would need to handle in your Shopify store.
